Vibration Mitigation of Wind Turbine Towers Using Negative Stiffness Absorbers

چکیده
The application of dynamic vibration absorbers (DVA) to Wind Turbine (WT) towers has the potential significantly improve damping tower and nacelle responses, increasing thus reliability WTs. Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is limited by requirement large masses, in association its installation location. In this study, two alternative concepts are considered. First, released from WT tower, using a low stiffness connection. This option based on seismic isolation concept. Additionally, novel passive absorption configuration implemented, KDamper essentially an extension TMD, introducing negative (NS) elements. Instead additional mass, capability can be increased value NS element. Therefore, always indicates better properties than TMD with same mass. For nonlinear response build-in house software developed. performance proposed mitigation numerically examined. All methods present superior behaviour as compared uncontrolled structure, however only KDamper-based designs increase effective retaining masses reasonable ranges.

Dynamic Analysis of Offshore Wind Turbine Towers with Fixed Monopile Platform Using the Transfer Matrix Method
In this paper, an analytical method for vibrations analysis of offshore wind turbine towers with fixed monopile platform is presented. For this purpose, various and the most general models including CS, DS and AF models are used for modeling of wind turbine foundation and axial force is modeled as a variable force as well. The required equations for determination of wind turbine tower response ...
متن کاملSuppression of the vibrations of wind turbine towers
We investigate the suppression of the vibrations of a wind turbine tower using colocated feedback to achieve strong stability. We decompose the system into one model describing the vibrations in the plane of the turbine axis and another model in the plane of the turbine blades. In the plane of the turbine axis, we obtain a non-uniform Spacecraft Control Laboratory Experiment (SCOLE) model with ...

This article aims to study the self-supporting truss towers used to support large wind turbines. The goal is to evaluate and validate numerically by finite element method the structural analysis when the lattice structures of the towers of wind turbines are subjected to static loads and these from common usage. With this, it is expected to minimize the cost of transportation and installation of...
متن کاملAnalysis of Wind Turbine Blade Vibration and Drivetrain Loads
ANALYSIS OF WIND TURBINE BLADE VIBRATION AND DRIVETRAIN LOADS By Venkatanarayanan Ramakrishnan The reliability of wind turbines is a major issue for the industry. Drivetrain and blade failures are common, costly and not fully understood. Designers must thus examine and understand the key parameters that influence reliability. As wind turbines increase in size, the blades are designed to be more...
متن کاملWind Turbine Clutter Mitigation in Coastal UHF Radar
Coastal UHF radar provides a unique capability to measure the sea surface dynamic parameters and detect small moving targets, by exploiting the low energy loss of electromagnetic waves propagating along the salty and good conducting ocean surface. It could compensate the blind zone of HF surface wave radar at close range and reach further distance than microwave radars. However, its performance...
